REVERIE:
a state of being pleasantly lost in one's thoughts
I create my artwork through a passionate application of color and emotion.
As I fabricate a face, the impression is drawn from a memory of a particular place,
La Laguna de Alegria, El Salvador.
This place, from which I used to visit as a child, is a lagoon / a volcano.
Its azure abyss sways songs of joy as it swallows foolish souls who dare swim its mysterious waters. When I think about the significance of this place, I daydream the textures, smells and sounds.
The colors and lines I use to build up these impressions mirror
the likeness of the sleeping volcano I once grew up with.
The style that emerges is deep, personal and figurative,
drawing upon a constellation of memory and the human experience.
