In the summer of 2008, I was given the amazing opportunity to exhibit my artwork at the university art gallery on campus. The collection was called Fabricated Faces and was based on psychedelically abstracted self portraits. Each face displayed a unique expression that was built from a colorful palette. Passionate, lustful, agonizing, tranquility...there's a powerful feeling conveyed in each painting, communicating to the viewer some kind of longing or truth of something...Pardon the ambiguity of my description...but I have to admit that even now I am struggling to be clear about my art. It has indeed been 3 years since I've done anything like this: FABRICATED FACES
In an attempt to pick up where Fabricated Faces left off, this summer, I am going to take a step forward:
Using sumi-ink rather than heaps of color to make a palette, these new faces will be built from new feelings, new memories, landscapes and stories that I hope to express in a more comprehensive way. One of the main purposes of this blog is to catalogue my thought process and progress in art. Let's see where we go!
